Hong Kong Travel wins Yearly
Award as Best Asia/Pacific Destination
LOS ANGELES (May 2007) –
Hong Kong has been named the winner of the Best Asia/Pacific Destination Award
in Hong Kong Travel Weekly magazine’s first annual Readers Choice Awards. The
city won over Australia, Thailand, Singapore and Tahiti, which were also named
finalists in the prestigious inaugural competition.
Travel Weekly, which is
considered the industry Bible by travel agents, bestowed honors in 27 categories
to recognize the world’s finest resorts, hotels, cruise ships, car rental
companies, airlines, theme parks and destinations. Five finalists were selected
in each category, covering both domestic and international nominees.
Hong Kong Travel agents who
read the publication selected winners through an open ballot based on strict
industry criteria, including: quality of facilities, quality of services
provided, staff proficiency and quantity and quality of amenities.
“Dedication to quality has
always been a trademark of Travel Weekly,” said Robert Sullivan, Travel
Weekly’s Publisher. “Our readers, representing the highest level of industry
professionals, are also driven to expect quality products. The 2003 Readers
Choice Award winners have met their tough standards by providing outstanding
service.”
“Hong Kong Travel is honored
to receive this important award,” said Lily Shum, Regional Director of the
Americas, Hong Kong Tourism Board. It is testament that America’s travel
agents recognize and appreciate Hong Kong as a diverse, cosmopolitan city that
fuses the best of Eastern and Western cultures.”
