All About The Philippines

The Philippines Islands are some of the most beautiful islands in Asia. There are 7,107 islands all together. Spending a month here will change your life for ever. Josie and I discovered each other in Manila. You have choices to make when you travel to Asia and some of them will be harder than others. The Country is an archipelago of 7,107 islands. It stretches from the south of China to the northern tip of Borneo. The Map of Philippines shows where in the country that over a hundred ethnic groups and a mixture of foreign influences which have molded a unique Filipino culture.

Would you believe it is the third largest English-speaking country in the world. The country is divided into three geographical areas: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. These are "MUST SEE" areas because they are the places that Filpina girls on the Internet today and places that foreign men are traveling to when meeting Asian women of your dreams.

It is subdivided into Regions such as Rizal, Quezon, Palawan Batangas and Boracay to name a few. hen into Provinces.

The provinces are then divided then into Cities and Municipalities.

Manila is the capitol and the largest of the cities. Our family lives in an area outside of Manila called Marikina City. Baguio is located to the north of Manila about 1 1/2 hours by air and six hours by bus. It is the "Summer Capital" for the government of the Philippines.

North of Manila and to the western side of Luzon are two cities that are unbelievable. These two are Ilolos Norte and Ilolos Sur and are so close to Taiwan that the majority of tourist traffic is from Taiwan.

Cebu or Cebu City stands out as a jewel of the orient in our opinion. We have many American friends living there full time. Out of Cebu and south by air about 2 hours is Davao. Davao is located on the Island of Mindanao.

The Location of the Philippine Islands is Southeastern Asia, archipelago between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea, east of Vietnam. Geographic coordinate of 13 00 N, 122 00 E. Total area total: 300,000 sq km (land: 298,170 sq km . Water: 1,830 sq km) Coastline: 36,289 km. I found a South Pacific paradise I had thought about for years. Glad I went and will continue to go as many times as possible.

The first trip I took there was in 1982 when I went there for a business trip for the company I worked for at the time. I was married at the time and had no idea of looking for Filipina girls. My job was to market research Manila for the possible entry of new 7-Eleven Food Stores. On that trip I fell on love with the Filipino Culture. What happened to me almost 25 years ago is why this website is here. By the way there are well over 350 7-Eleven's in Metro Manila today as the result of the first trip by me and one other guy who saw the potential for convenience stores in Manila.

I found a tropical marine climate. I learned that here are northeast monsoon (November to April); southwest monsoon (May to October). Terrain mostly mountains with narrow to extensive coastal lowlands.

Because the Philippines has a tropical climate with relatively abundant rainfall and gentle winds there are three pronounced seasons: the wet or rainy season from June to October, the cool, dry season from November to February, and the hot, dry season from March to May.

The topography of the bigger islands - particularly Luzon and Mindanao - is characterized by alluvial plains, narrow valleys, rolling hills and high mountains. The highest mountains are found in Mindanao and Luzon, with the altitudes varying from 1,790 to 3,144 meters. Most of the smaller islands are mountainous in the interior, surrounded by narrow strips of discontinuous flat lowlands which constitute the coastal rims. The shorelines of both large and small islands are irregular with many sandy beaches.

The Philippines' fertile land accounts for the more than 900 species of orchids representing 100 genera that have been found. The Sampaguita is the national flower. Among the country's fauna are some endangered species like the Philippine Eagle, the tarsier, and the mouse deer.
